Death's Wings - 死の翼
Shimonme Akane
Death's Wings revolves around a young woman by the name of Akane Shimonme. After one day witnessing a murder in a cathedral, she encounters the Grim Reaper, a tall figure draped from head to toe in black flowing cloth. It explains to her that its time as the grim reaper has come to an end. As the witness to its last Reaping, she must now become the next grim reaper.
The tall figure swings its scythe and cleaves straight through her. There is no blood, no wound and Akane feels no change. Suddenly the apparition vanishes and in an instant black wings shoot from her back. The pain is so intense she passes out. When she comes to, she sees that her hair is much longer and she is holding two scythes. She hears a voice saying "You are now a god of death". She turns around and sees a rather short creature standing at the doorway gesturing for her to come closer and thus her story begins.
